Gilberdyke
had a comfortable victory against Newport (Away) in a fixture that moved
away from the 'pairs' system with proper cricket rules being played for the
first time. Newport batting first scored 65 all out with a majority of the
runs coming from extras and in particular wides. Wicket takers were George
Houseman and Adam Bell with 2 each and William Gallagher, Edward Lapish,
Connor Clayton and Brad Williams with one each. Gilberdyke reached their
target with Adam Bell (4 x 4s)batting through with 23 not out, his highest
score for the club and Tom Reed with 5 fours in his 24 in a partnership of
44. George Houseman 9 n.o. and Harry Walker 6 n.o. saw the team home with
several overs to spare.
The club
resume their fixtures after the half term break with an away fixture against
North Ferriby.
