CLUBMARK

In February 2005, Gilberdyke cricket club were at the time, only the twelfth club in the county of Yorkshire to have gained the Nationally acclaimed ECB clubmark accreditation in partnership with Sport England. Four years on, the club achieved re-accreditation, which is now a requirement every three years.

In order to gain accreditation, the club had to provide evidence for and demonstrate implementation of the four themes summarised below :-

bullet

Duty of care and safeguarding children; (coaches are ECB qualified and CRB checked).

bullet

The cricket programme; (there is a regular structured coaching program for juniors).

bullet

Sports equity and ethics; (the club constitution is open, non-discriminatory and sets out a code of conduct for members and guests).

bullet

Club management; (the club is managed on a day to day basis by a general committee which annually produces and reviews a development plan).

The East Riding of Yorkshire Council runs it's own accreditation scheme (ERCAS) which Gilberdyke Cricket Club have achieved at Level 2. Both Clubmark and ERCAS authenticate that the club is recognised as a high quality community cricket club with a safe and effective junior section.

The end product will see the club continue to benefit from the following.

Club Development. - The foundation of any club is its youth structure. By encouraging and attracting young members, it is building a strong future.

Increased Membership. - Addressing issues like equality and child protection gives parents confidence when choosing a club for their children.

Developing coaches and volunteers. - As part of Clubmark, clubs receive help in developing the skills of those involved in the organisation.

Raised Profile. - Once Clubmark accredited, clubs will be listed on a national database and in other directories, to help them attract new players and grow.

The club are pleased to support the England & Wales Cricket board and the Yorkshire Cricket Board in the continued development of the game of cricket.
